About idonus

The company idonus sàrl was founded in 2004 as a start-up company from the Institute of Microengineering – University of Neuchâtel ( IMT), Switzerland [now part of the Institute of Electrical and Micro Engineering, IEM, EPFL].

idonus is specialized in the development and fabrication of special equipment for the MEMS and watchmaking industries.

The company is based in the heart of the Swiss Watch Valley, where precision micromachining meets a growing cluster of companies working in micro- and nanotechnology. Its headquarters are embedded in the Innoparc in Hauterive, Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Products & solutions

Products — Our product portfolio includes UV-LED exposure systems for photolithography (UV-EXP), IR microscope for wafer inspection (IR-M), and vapor phase chemical etcher (VPE) for silicon-based devices. Since 2016, we also provide ion implantation services and machines for the surface treatment of materials.

Solutions — One of idonus' strengths lies in its ability to customize its products according to the needs of each client. The vertical integration of the company enables a fast prototyping, which results in short lead times for the customer.

Customer feedback

Here is a collection of customer feedback about the HF vapor phase etcher.

EPFL is vey satisfied with the idonus HF Vapor etcher. The tool is very efficient and very complementary to other techniques like liquid HF etching followed by supercritical CO₂ drying. The HF vapor is able to release tiny structures on sacrificial SiO₂ layers with more success than any other known technique. The tool is safe and its price is very affordable.
